It's Been A Week. . .

Dear Family and Friends,

It's hard to believe that it has been a week now since Mic was admitted to Akron City. I remember getting the call from Dr. Petrilla. I had to leave to go pick up Isaiah from school, but when I got home, Mic told me his blood work revealed he was anemic. . . and that possibly it was leukemia.

I remember we arrived at the hospital around 5:00 that evening. We needed to go through the ER so that they could confirm the blood test results. I had to leave at 9:30 so I could get home to the kids. Mic called later and said he finally got a bed around 11:00. It never crossed our mind that he would not be coming home until mid-April.

Anyway, he started chemo on Friday and will be done this Friday, the 20th. We were told today that he is now considered neutropenic, which means his white blood cells are dying. This is what we want. It also means hand washing is a MUST, as well as no fresh flowers, no fruit or veggies, unless they are peeled.

Tonight we met with a lawyer, and friend of the family, to draw up a will. Ironically, we started this process just 3 weeks prior to the diagnoses. It truly is something we (especially those of us with children) should do anyway. Regardless, it went well and we are happy with our decisions.

He is still doing very well. You wouldn't think there was anything wrong with him. However, I could tell that he was more tired today. The most annoying side effect has been the frequent urination. Seems that he's up every hour, which interrupts his sleep. We do appreciate you honoring the "Time Out" between 1:00 - 4:00. And he also appreciates the phone calls and visitors, cards and emails. We both do!

XOXO,
Wendy

Rec'd a call for prayer and we are blessed to lift Mic, you and the kids up in prayer as you face this life challenge. Thankful God still is on the other side of every situation and will hold you tightly in His arms.
We know you are strong in your faith and know you are loved by many. This will not be a challenge met alone.
God bless each of you and will continue to lift you all up in prayer.
Much love and hugs,

Mic and Wendy,
I heard the news from my dad last weekend about the situation, and am very sorry that you're having to go through this. I hope that everything is improving, which I am gathering from what I've read on the blog, and will keep you in my thoughts. If there is anything I can do, or if you would like to reach me (as I don't see a number to reach you) you can call me at 321-890-2555. Stay strong.

Love,
Maleya

Mic and Wendy,
We got the news through school and our prayer chain at church. Know that you are all in our prayers and we are trusting God for complete healing. It sounds like Mic is doing well, and your faith is keeping you grounded! We didn't know that he would be in the hospital until April for his treatments until we read your blog. This is such a great idea for keeping everyone up on his progress. We love you, and will continue to pray.
