Mic's symptoms

I thought I should write a quick note explaining how we came to find out that Mic's blood cell count was abnormal.

Since about Thanksgiving, Mic has been coughing. Several weeks ago I told him that he would never allow me to go that long without seeing a doctor. He told me he'd make an appointment.

In the past two weeks, he's been finding himself feeling nauseous, sometimes vomitting. He also noticed that he would feel short of breath, like his lungs were not filling to full capacity.

This past Sunday (3/8), he was feeling sick again. He vomitted several times and was running a fever. We assumed he had a bug. He woke up Monday morning with a horrible headache and still feeling sick to his stomach, so he went back to bed.

I got the kids off to school then went ahead and called his doctor's office to schedule an appointment. I figured it was a good time to go ahead and have them figure out why he is coughing all the time. (These have not been dainty coughs. . . they have been violent, earthquaking coughs.) We also wanted answers to why he was feeling nauseous several times a day for the past week or so.

He got in to see his doctor Monday morning. He listened to Mic's heart and lungs. Everything sounded healthy and all his numbers looked good. The one thing he pointed out was how pale his lips were. The doctor ordered blood work and a chest x-ray.

The chest x-ray came back clear, which surprised us since he had been coughing so much. What we weren't expecting was for the blood work to be abnormal. The concern seemed to be that the red cell count was half of what it should be ( if 15 normal, his is 7) and the hemoglobens should have been 150,000 and they were 40,000. The white were off as well. There are different kinds of white and I've learned that they have various jobs. The differential screening showed that there was a concern with the white count as well.

I only pass along this information b/c many were wondering how we knew something was wrong in the first place. It was through a check-up at his family doctor, hoping to cure his cough and fix the nauseousness.

I have a lot of friends that are battling illness. People are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Mic's symptoms seemed to come on pretty suddently. We feel so blessed that the doctors are moving on it. I realize that it doesn't always happen this way for everyone.

Thank you again. You are such a blessing to me and my family!

Warmly,
Wendy

Thanks for sharing. "It" comes in the front-door...the back-door...through the vents...or it's always there and something wakens. We can all confess that too often we minimize symptoms. Too easy to blow-off...Too "busy" to take time...if we had only "listened". Wendy~Mic..Thanks for your time given to share,sincerely...you are/will touch, make a difference for passing-it-on. Prayerful to God for Your continued Blessings.
Neighbors you hardly know are on our knees looking UP for You~All.
Remain Encouraged in His Care.
