Feeling Pretty Crumby

The kids and I stopped in after lunch today to see Daddy. He had a visitor who was diagnosed with the same type of Leukemia, A.M.L. Seems that they had a good visit. Mic tried to talk to me about their visit but started to get the chills and needed to get under the covers. He was shivering so badly that he really couldn't talk much.

The nurse's assistant came in to take his vitals and discovered that his temp. was up to 104. They brought him bags of ice and more Tylenol to help with the fever. I'm afraid the Tylenol didn't get a chance to do anything since he vomitted shortly after. He gets to coughing so hard that sometimes he gets sick. He threw up once more, continued to shiver, and tried to get comfortable. The kids and I left him in the dark, hoping he would get some sleep.

Around his eyes are black and blue because he rubs them when he's tired. He is bruising very easily these days, even the elastic in his socks leave bruise marks around his ankles. Pretty sure it has something to do with his blood cell counts. He also had an allergic reaciton to one of the antibiotics which has left a red rash all over his body.

I feel bad that he is having such a hard time sleeping. He gets the chills, finally falls asleep but then wakes up all sweaty. He said he almost dreads falling asleep because of waking up so wet from sweating.

They took him for a CAT scan of his lungs this morning. We're both confused why he coughs so much. I can't help to be a bit concerned about this.

The kids leave on Wednesday with their grandparents to visit my sister's family in Colorado for a week. They have 4 cousins that they love to play with so this should be good for everyone. I'm sure it wasn't easy to see their daddy so down and out. But at least they understand why he has to stay in the hospital. I hope that when they return, they will see their daddy looking and sounding healthy.

Thank you for caring about us. You are such a blessing to our family. Your prayers have allowed us to stay strong and optimistic that Mic is going to recover from this brief set back.

Much love,
Mic and Wendy
